The 1999 Aubervilliers tournament was the first human tournament for ZChess.
It is a 12 round speed time tournament (30 minuts/game) with +800 competitors, including several IGM
(Asrian, Akopian, Minassian, Vaisser,...)

ZChess 1.2 played nicely, scoring 9.5/12 (one loss) with a TPR of +2300 elo.

The key moment of the tournament was the one played at round 7 where ZChess with black faced Andrei SHCHEKACHEV, an IGM that really knows how to play against a computer.
Here is the game:

The 7th move of ZChess Qb4? was allready a mistake, but in the following position:

EPD : r1b1k1nr/pp2ppbp/2p3p1/2p5/1q2P3/2NP1N1P/PPP2PP1/R1BQ1RK1 b kq -

ZChess makes a major blunder :
8. ... Bxc3 ??
This 'computer' :-) move does win a pawn, but lose the game !
In the previous position, the black bishop in g7 should be preserved.

This blunder is also played by many programs, here is the move played on a K6 300
after a 1 minut analyze:

In round 10th , ZChess faced a human preparation :

Here, black (the human) played a surprising sack, that seems perfectly correct:
